Jakob Vogdrup Hansen

Jakob Vogdrup was born on 6 April 1973 to Jørgen og Else Vogdrup, Esbjerg, Denmark, the middle child with two brothers and two sisters. His father was a domineering alcoholic and Jakob claims that his paternal grandfather was also violent. In his younger years, Jakob was given less attention than his siblings and treated differently by the rest of his family. After moving to Slagelse, Denmark, Jakob had trouble fitting in and making friends because of his large size. Because of this he was a shy child, content to play by himself much of the time. He would often get into trouble for behaving badly, sometimes violently, and would be severely punished by his father. This included beatings (sometimes with a belt in front of others) and, in one case, he received an electrick shock from his father.

Torturer of pets

At a very early age – as young as five – Jakob would capture and torture animals. He enjoyed watching animals kills each other as well as the feeling he got from taking their lives. This continued as he got older. He would capture birds and stray cats and dogs around the suburbs of Slagelse where he lived with his family, severely beating the animals and then strangling them to death. He finished public school in 1988, but did not attend high school because his father did not believe he could do it. Instead he started working in a supermarket. At the age of 20 he started driving trucks through Europa.

A faultless career

In 1998 by accident he ended up being a statist in Jean-Pierre Jeunets remake of the classic movie “Convoy” from 1978. Jakob liked all the buzz around filmmaking and started taking acting lessons at home. He also tried to get into Skuespillerskolen ved Aarhus Teater. After three attemps he succed. He graduated in 2006, but already two years before he had teamed up with Foking Films. He had a short apperance as an barbarian in Foking Films first production, ‘Odin’s Son’ from fall 2004. In 2005 he got a bigger role in ‘Odin’s Son II: Zombie Son’, famous from scene where he returns from the Dead. In 2006 he returns in the last film in the Odin’s son trilogy: ‘Odin’s son III – the revenge of Ho Chi Göebbels’ as an zombie. In 2007 Jakob Vogdrup gets his commercial breakthrough in the blockbuster “The Creature from the Faeces Lagoon” where he
plays Shub-Niggurath.

Another comeback

In 2008 he took a break from movie making and took actorlessons from the Danish actor Jens Okking. He made some money doing commercials. The next year he was back at the big screen starring in the critical acclaimed Onde Jakob. The role brought him The Robert from the Film Academy of Denmark for Leading actor of the Year. In 2010 Jakob only appeared in a minor role in Comfort Clones. Most of the year he spend in USA taking lessons in aikido from the actor and aikidoexpert Steven Seagal.
